Nothing demotivates a person to work quite like poor results – this applies to knitting as well. Fortunately, when weaving with chunky yarn, this problem disappears because the work literally grows before your eyes. However, even among these chunky yarns, there are better and worse alternatives. Make sure you are using the best ones!
Our favorite among chunky yarns.
Countless knitted blankets, pillows, and rugs are behind us, and we still think it is unrivaled. What are we talking about? CHUNKY CHENILLE YARN – in our opinion, it is the best alternative when it comes to chunky weaves.
Better than roving wool?
In our opinion, chunky chenille yarn beats roving wool on many levels. You might be shocked, after all, roving wool is a natural material, and the yarn we recommend is made of polyester. Believe us, however, we have really solid arguments.
- Chunky chenille yarn is more durable, so it looks like new long after weaving. Roving wool pills faster, which makes its appearance after some time of use not as neat as at the beginning. And after all, we are supposed to enjoy our handiwork – protruding fibers and pilling definitely make that harder.
- The lightness of our favorite yarn is another of its advantages. For example – a blanket measuring 90 x 120 cm made of chenille yarn weighs 1.25 kg, while a wool one weighs as much as 3.2 kg.
- Durability in this case goes hand in hand with reusability. Thanks to the fact that chunky chenille yarn is less prone to damage and pilling, you can repeatedly weave and unweave the same skein without worry. This is especially useful for beginner knitters – sometimes you need to unravel something, and sometimes even start all over again.
- A blanket, as well as other things knitted from chenille yarn, can be easily washed. Roving wool products are more problematic in this case, as it is safest to dry clean them, which obviously involves time and additional costs.
Benefits of chunky chenille yarn.
That's not the end of the advantages of our favorite yarn! It should be mentioned that it is soft and pleasant to the touch, warm, and also safe for children and animals, which is guaranteed by the Oeko-Tex certificate. And one more advantage – in our shop, we offer it in so many colors that we certainly have your favorite one too!
In summary, chunky chenille yarn has the same set of advantages as roving wool, plus additional features that wool lacks, which allow us to enjoy the finished work for a long time without worries.
